Second Half of the Eighteenth Century
Authentic Stone Lithograph
Published in Germany by Braun & Schneider
late 1880s original
BACKGROUND INFO:This is an authentic, double-paged, colored stone lithograph (print), illustrating historical clothing. The verso (reverse side) is blank. The images on the print are of an exceptional quality and detail. Its' text is in German.
The lithograph illustrates the uniforms of the Austrian, German and Prussian Army:
a) Austria (1760-1775) - General, Officer
b) Austria (1760-1775) - Hussar, Infantryman
c) Prussia (1760) - Officer of Guard Battalion, Grenadier
d) Prussia (1760) - Officer of Hussars, Cuirassier in Sedlitz' Army, Mounted Grenadier (Private)
The entire piece measures: 13-3/8" x 17" (34 x 43,2cm). This large sheet is folded in the middle. It was once bound in book form and bears evidence of this along the fold at the back, where the paper is thinned just below the centerfold seam, although when laid flat, this is not visible from the front. Tearing to the centerfold crease has been neatly repaired from the back with a thin, archival quality paper tape, not visible from the front. The page is tanned due to age but is clean and the colors are bright. There is no foxing (little brown age spots). Odor-free. Smoke-free. Overall condition is: VERY GOOD.
This is an original, NOT a reproduction, and is a VERY SCARCE find. Unconditionally guaranteed to be as described -- full refund if not satisfied.
Perfect for matting and framing. I have a few other engravings up for bid--please take a look.
